Job overview

Due to expansion of the school, a KS1 form teacher is required in this successful, happy and full school starting September 2023. Applicants from the maintained sector as well as the Independent Sector are warmly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be joining a fabulous department which embraces new ideas, hard work and creativity. The School’s artistic, academic, cultural, and sporting life is highly regarded.

You will be well organised and enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and committed to developing your own pedagogy. Some experience of the International Primary Curriculum would be helpful but is not essential. Resources and planning are already in place so that you can be effective immediately on arrival, and you will be encouraged to explore and develop your own schemes in collaboration with the team.

Set in the grounds of the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral, you will enjoy the unique experience of school assemblies in what we affectionately call our school chapel.

As a Form teacher you are responsible for the pastoral and academic development of your class. Working in a friendly, warm environment, you will be involved in the whole life of St Paul’s Cathedral School including sports, activities and after school clubs.

Our parents are cosmopolitan professionals from all walks of life and genuinely supportive, and the salary is competitive.

This role may suit someone wishing to return to teaching after a period away, or for an NQT needing to complete their NQT year in a different setting, and from both maintained and independent sectors. The School is committed to equal opportunities.

If you think this could be for you, then please complete the online application form.

If you would like to discuss the role, please contact the Head, Simon Larter-Evans direct at head@spcs.london.sch.uk.

Closing date for the applications is Monday 20 February 2023, with interviews soon after. We reserve the right to make an appointment before the closing date.

Further information about the school can be found at: http://www.spcslondon.com/

Completed applications need to be returned online through the TES portal.

St Paul’s Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Baring Service.

About St Paul's Cathedral School

St Paul’s Cathedral School is a co-educational, Church of England, independent preparatory day school for around 250 children aged 4-13, located in the City of London. It has boarding provision for St Paul’s Cathedral boy choristers, who sing daily at the cathedral, from the age of seven. From September 2023, girl choristers have begun to sing in the cathedral.

The school is owned by the Dean and Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral; its governing body is made up of five Canons and seven lay members, who are chaired by the Dean. St Paul's can trace its origins back to the 12th century and it existed for several centuries solely to educate the cathedral choristers. It has been co-educational since 2002.
