The Drama Department

The Drama department is located in the state of the Art Performing Arts Centre with Music and Dance. The Performing Arts Centre is equipped with two large drama classrooms, a black box theatre, and recording studio.

Drama is a core part of the school and within the curriculum at large. Students in Year 9 all study Drama and then Drama is an elective at IGCSE and A Level. The Head of Drama will be expected to lead Drama in both the taught curriculum and in the enrichment programme. The Head of Drama will direct a whole school performance each year and provide opportunities for smaller, more informal productions.

In terms of production work the department is resourced with a full-time sound and lighting technician. We are seeking an outstanding practitioner to help deliver the Drama curriculum by motivating the students using current and contemporary drama and theatre knowledge as well as the ability to teach native-level and non-native learners by bringing creativity, flexibility, passion and a love of the world of theatre to an already thriving department. The department currently offers the Cambridge IGCSE and linear Edexcel A-level and there is strong participation in Drama both in and out of the curriculum, with a termly programme of productions, student-led events and drama competitions.

Roles and Responsibility

The post holder is required to plan, organise and deliver the drama provision in the Senior School and teach two classes of English.

All teachers at RST are tutors and, as such, play a full role in the pastoral life of the School, including boarding.

RUGBY SCHOOL THAILAND

Rugby School Thailand is a co-educational day and boarding international school set in 74 acres of glorious Thai countryside south of Bangkok.
