Date required – June OR September 2022

Come along to the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust Recruitment Fair on 29 January 2022 to find out more.

We seek an inspiring and ambitious teacher of Design and Technology whose expertise is in resistant materials and may have experience of graphic design. Joining our highly effective and committed faculty, the successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher, have the skills to motivate and engage students and will have a relentless ambition to enrich the lives and learning experiences of our students.

The academy has had a huge amount of success in driving up educational standards over the last five years and you would be joining an exceptional academy in a period of growth. Part of the academy’s plans centre around the ‘design’ curriculum.   Unlike many schools we are not prepared to let this important area of the curriculum ’wither on the vine’ and you would be joining a faculty area that wants to provide designers for the 21st century.

The expansion of the school means that the refurbishment of our design facilities is about to take place.  There is a unique opportunity to be involved and influence the redesign and development of our teaching spaces fit for the 21st century.

We are looking for applications from candidates who can motivate our learners to achieve their best, can instil a “Growth Mindset” in all, and nurture students to see challenges as opportunities to flourish.

Brayton Academy was awarded ‘Outstanding in all areas’ at the OFSTED inspection in June 2019 which highlighted the pupils’ exemplary behaviour as well as excellent attitudes to learning.  The outstanding Leadership Team continue to drive for improving the life chances of our students and as OFSTED note students make the substantial progress in lesson thanks to skilful teaching.  We are part of The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust which has a reputation for high expectations for all, an innovative curriculum and excellent staff/student relationships. It is regarded as one of the most successful Trusts in the country and is recognised as an organisation that does things differently. Our academies are a place where staff can develop their skills and find their own style and methods of teaching. Colleagues learn and grow alongside our students and feel that they are making a real difference to the lives of those they teach. We believe that traditional values of discipline and respect are sacrosanct. We do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness, and this has made for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people and a supportive environment for staff.

We want to look after our teachers and at Brayton you would be assigned a ‘coach’ who would support and facilitate your professional development.  This is not a ‘jazz hands’ approach to training whereby teachers are told about the latest new pedagogical approach.  This is considered, self-driven, professional improvement helped by an experienced highly trained coach. We do not ascribe to a one size fits all curriculum model and with The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust we promote teacher freedom.  A freedom to teach how you want using your developed expertise as well as the work established through the individual coaching sessions.

This is an excellent time to join this thriving academy. The successful candidate may be at any stage of their career and there may indeed be opportunities to take on extra leadership responsibilities if or when ready.

We encourage interested candidates to join us at our Recruitment Fair on Saturday 29 January 2022 (held at Rodillian Academy) from 9.30 am to find out more about Brayton Academy. Please click here to register your attendance. http://www.rodillianacademytrust.co.uk/recruitment-fairs/

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service.

An application pack for this vacancy and further information about the role can be found at www.rodillianacademytrust.co.uk/vacancies.  Completed applications must be returned to recruitment@rodillianacademy.co.uk

Closing date for applications: Monday 7 February 2022 at 9.00 am

Brayton Academy opened in September 2016 and serves the communities of Brayton, Selby Town and the surrounding villages. The Academy is continuing to grow and become the school of choice in the area and is part of the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust.

Rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2019, the Academy's 2021/22 Progress 8 figure is far above national average at 0.77 (including Year 10 early entry GCSEs), with 74% of students achieving a Grade 4 in English and maths and 55% of students achieving Grade 5.

Brayton Academy holds the traditional values of good discipline and respect. With this in mind we expect our students to excel in their day-to-day studies as well as their exams.

These expectations are robustly and rigorously upheld through our Positive Discipline system, which creates a calm, purposeful and harmonious environment where staff and students have positive relationships.

Moreover, students have a safe learning environment where they can thrive, and staff can focus on the craft of teaching and their own professional development.

We uphold the principles of teacher freedom, and we want to promote innovative practice within the classroom.

We have exceptionally high expectations of all of our students and staff but with that comes a high level of support and encouragement. If you are interested in pursuing your career and making a difference to young people’s lives in an excellent, innovative and contemporary school please don’t hesitate to contact us for further information.
