Job overview

Are children at the heart of your work? Are you looking for a challenge? If so, read on.

The Directors of The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT) are seeking to appoint a Headteacher to lead the West Grantham Church of England Primary Academy.

The last few years have been turbulent ones for the school and its community, with several changes in leadership and declining standards resulting in a 2019 Ofsted judgement of inadequate.  In January 2021 the school joined SNMAT and the time of turbulence is now over. We need someone to make it shine again.

Still fancy it?

This won’t be a straightforward job (the best ones never are).  It will be both demanding and rewarding, whilst offering you the chance to bring about substantial change in a community where education needs a champion.  You will need to be ambitious, resilient and determined.  You must also be relentlessly focused on ensuring the very best for every child.

You will be supported by a Trust that does things differently: we aren’t corporate.  We don’t impose pedagogical policies.  We don’t shift teachers around at little notice and we know that strength lies in the quality of our people. Critically, we are ego-free and work together to place the best interests of pupils at the center of every decision and action.  You will join our Senior Leadership Team of headteachers to move both West Grantham Primary Academy and the wider Trust forward.  This really is a Trust that you can trust.

If this sounds like your next step, you will need to be someone who:

• Inspires colleagues to be the very best that they can be.

• Is unafraid to challenge underperformance.

• Works at pace in a complex landscape

• Values, promotes and celebrates our core Christian values in all that they do.

• Provides expertise in primary practice.

• Works with resilience, integrity and courage.

• Understands how to improve the quality of teaching.

• Brings exceptionally high expectations to all that they do.

• Locates children at the heart of all their work.

In return for your commitment we will provide exciting opportunities supported through bespoke CPD, tailored specifically to your needs.  You will be supported by the executive principal in the first 2 years and will benefit from the wider support of our expert practitioners.  We want you to stay in this Trust and will find opportunities to keep you interested and excited about your work.  This is a rare chance to make a huge difference, to join a school at the heart of its community, and an organisation that is looking to be the best Multi Academy Trust that nobody has heard of (that’s deliberate).

West Grantham Primary Academy is currently located on two separate sites.  This is set to change as we are moving to a single site over the next 18 months, involving an exciting building project.  The school works in close partnership with West Grantham Secondary Academy and the opportunity to work in a cross-phase environment means that you will be able to support, influence and promote children’s best interests throughout their schooling.

Please contact Anna Martin (Executive Principal) at AMartin@wgacademy.org.uk to arrange an informal discussion or visit.
