About Bala-City International School, Bulack Campus

Bala-City International School was established eight years ago to provide multilingual education for children aged three to fourteen. Uniquely amongst schools in Russia, the school is both a licensed Russian school and a registered Cambridge International School, and offers a complete programme of study in both curriculums.

The Cambridge International Programme is taught by native speakers of English, with pupils studying English language, Mathematics, Science and Global Perspectives with English as the language of instruction. In addition, the curriculum is enriched by additional subjects such as art and music being taught in English also.

Our primary school teachers work with a single class, and are responsible for their academic subjects and elements of their pastoral development. Secondary teachers are subject specialists who are responsible for teaching their subject across an age range.

The local programme is taught by Russian teachers, and the school encourages and welcomes collaboration between the two contrasting teams. Furthermore, there are a team of teachers who teach in Tatar, the national language of the Republic of Tatarstan where the school is located.

The school has a strong commitment to using 21st Century methods in the classroom. As of September 2019, all International teachers are invited to work towards the Cambridge International Diploma in Digital Technologies, which the school will be accredited to deliver.

Our school has a system of criteria-based assessment, which centres on the ability to track progress of skills using objectives included in the curriculum.

Our school supports the idea of Project-Based Learning, and concentrates on practical activities which develops pupils in the areas of academic knowledge and soft skills.
