About Oakhill Church School

Our children are happy. They enjoy school life and they make firm friendships, which continue beyond the gates of the school. They are also curious about the world around them. We are continually impressed with their desire to seek and understand their environment. The children are more than this though. They are non-judgemental, accepting and fair-minded. This promotes our own inclusive practice. Of course, we strive to be an inclusive school but our children inspire us to be better. The culture around school feels friendly, warm and caring.

The community is very well connected and these connections run deep. The community cares and engages. The village rallies together in times of need and helps others. The school feels deep in the heart of Oakhill and we benefit tremendously from those around us.

In return, we offer a themed approach to our educational provision, based on the interests of the children, to maximise their engagement and satisfy that obvious curiosity. It is a progressive education that carefully builds on the previous learning as children move through the school.

Oakhill is a desirable home in a rural setting in the Mendip Hills. It is the epitome of Somerset village life. A village life that is active and affirming. There is a strong Christian ethos present and this is understood and promoted through the school. The Rev Richard Priestley is the strong link that holds us together and guides us towards our school vision, helping us keep our core values close to our hearts.
