An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic, motivated and able Lead Practitioner to join our Maths department. We are looking for an outstanding Lead Practitioner to inspire, guide and advise on best practice in the Academy. To work within a teaching and learning team and in conjunction with the Assistant Headteacher (Teaching & Learning) to support whole school improvement.


The successful candidate will be:

 An outstanding Teacher of Maths who can promote and enhance the quality of Maths teaching and learning across all key stages and work collaboratively to achieve ‘outstanding’ teaching and learning across the whole school.

 Able to inspire pupils of all abilities within Maths to achieve their highest potential.

 Committed to delivering consistently outstanding teaching and ability to share your practice with others in a constructive and collaborative manner.

 Contribute to the strategic development of the department by implementing new initiatives, and monitoring and reporting on key outcomes.

 Able to share practice with others in a constructive and collaborative manner both in Maths and across whole school.

 Passionate about Maths and the education of young people and committed to achieving the best for pupils. 

 Be creative, enthusiastic and engaging and able to challenge pupils.

 Committed to inspiring pupils and staff in the development of teaching initiatives and strategies, and promoting Maths as a subject. 

 Able to provide an active contribution to the wider part of Academy life.

You would be joining Crofton Academy in an exciting time in its development.  In 2020 the Academy became part of Castleford Academy Trust.  Over the last year, the Academy has been on a substantial improvement journey, the result of which is significant improvements in behaviour, leadership, and the quality of education.  The Academy were recently visited by Ofsted as part of a monitoring visit the outcome of which was overwhelming positive regarding the direction of travel for the Academy.  We would be delighted if potential applicants came to see the Academy in action.

Crofton Academy, part of Castleford Academy Trust, is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive of over 1,000 pupils offering a broad and balanced curriculum.
