Lead Practitioner - Science

We are looking to appoint a Lead Practitioner - Science for Easter or September 2023 (dependent on the successful candidates availability) and warmly welcome applications from experienced teachers who are passionate about science and are dedicated to enabling students to make excellent progress.

As the Lead Practitioner for science you will work day to day within a large science team with a wide range of experience, as well as working closely with other colleagues within the Academy and across the Trust to develop the wider foundations and applications of teaching and learning practice.

The science learning area strives to make best use of the strengths and experiences of the colleagues within our team and continues to successfully train and develop Early Career Teachers (ECTs) as a means of investing in the future of the department. In the role of Lead Practitioner - Science, you will be able to rely on the expertise of established practitioners who will play a part in working with you to further develop the science team, nurture new talent in the form of our ECTs and to drive standards even higher. This is a fantastic role where you will have a direct impact in enhancing the science learning area further to make it even better than it already is. You will be joining an experienced team and successful department whereby we have an increasing uptake at KS5.

The Leigh Academy has a truly comprehensive intake: achievement for all our students, regardless of background, is our key objective. We have recently developed our learning environment, with an exciting array of brand new laboratories and teaching facilities available to the science learning area.

It would be ideal but not essential that our successful candidate is a Chemistry specialist.
