Job overview

Do you have a passion for sharing your love of books with others? Does children's literature inspire you? We have the rare opportunity for you to nurture our Library, creating a space that supports the wellbeing of pupils as well as academically enriching and challenging their learning. We envisage a Library that is the heart of the school, where pupils feel drawn for contemplation and reflection as well as formal learning.

Our website will tell  you all about our culture and we are seeking a Librarian who will embrace our learning without limits ethos. You will bring your own character to embedding the values of skills based learning in the Library and, conversely, to extolling the benefits of the Library in all aspects of Bishopsgate life.

We are hoping to attract talented library assistants or librarians who, although you may not have worked as a librarian in a school before, are familiar with an educational setting, and confident with student interaction. You will have demonstrable knowledge of the best child and pre-teen fiction and non-fiction.

Please read our job description for this role which describes the full range of opportunity that you have to develop the literary heart of our school. We highly value our reputation as an excellent employer, and the successful candidate will benefit from a Contributory Pension Scheme, free and delicious lunch and snacks during term time, free staff parking, Cycle to Work scheme, all the benefits of our 'Bishopsgate Elevate' wellbeing programme, use of the beautiful swimming pool and new sports complex, and the opportunity to grow and develop professional skills and qualifications.

The School reserves the right to make an appointment before the closing date, so applicants are encouraged to apply immediately as this job may be withdrawn at any point without notice. In any event, the closing date for applications is 13th May 2021 and interviews will take place in week beginning 17th May.

Bishopsgate School is committed to providing a safe environment for its pupils and staff. Applicants for this post will be required to provide proof of identity at interview and undergo an enhanced DBS check before starting work.
