About Prendergast Primary School (Ladywell)

Our wonderful site is located right next to Ladywell Fields and includes a purpose-built primary building, and a stunning outdoor space, including specifically designed play areas for Reception, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Our pupils also learn and have fun in our Nature Reserve and multi-use games area, enjoying regular and extended time outdoors, throughout the year.

We are part of an 'all-through’ school up to age 16, with our secondary phase situated in a separate building, next to the primary. As part of the Leathersellers Federation, we are also fortunate to be affiliated with Prendergast School, at Hilly Fields where Sixth Form provision is situated.

In our most recent Ofsted inspection, our Early Years provision gained an Outstanding judgement, and we were particularly praised for the positive links that we make with our families; this is something that we have continued to nurture, as we are well aware of the positive impacts of the home-school relationship on pupil outcomes. We actively encourage parents to be closely involved in their child’s education.

At Prendergast Primary, children and creativity are at the centre of everything we do; our aim is to provide a stimulating learning environment in which children are excited to learn and are given the confidence to achieve their potential. Children are invited to solve problems, reflect on their feelings and learning, and create their own learning journeys. We believe that every pupil can and will Achieve Excellence; in fact it’s the motto on our school crest. Our curriculum is varied and challenging and aims to represent our diverse and rich community.

We are a school that CARES; where Community, Ambition, Resilience, Effort, and Success are valued. We have a dedicated staff team who are committed to achieving the very best for each child within our care. The Prendergast Primary Counselling Service and our Share & Care system are just some of the ways we recognise the importance of mental health and support the wellbeing of our school community.

The opportunity we have, as Co-Heads, to jointly lead the Prendergast Primary is an apt example of the flexibility and forward-thinking approach of our Federation. We feel delighted that our shared leadership is both beneficial to us personally and supports the development of our school. We are Stronger Together; we contribute to and benefit from the collaboration and support of the Leathersellers' Federation Vision and Values

Vivien Nicholls and Jill Palliser - Co-Heads of School
