Mayfield School is a Special school which is based on three sites. The site in Torquay caters for pupils between the ages of 2-19 with severe and profound learning difficulties and the site in Brixham, known as the Chestnut Centre, caters for primary aged pupils who are educated outside mainstream education because of significant social, emotional and mental health difficulties with associated challenging behavior. The Chestnut Centre also provides an outreach service to mainstream schools in Torbay.
We are looking for an experienced Outreach Worker to support the Outreach lead teacher in working with individuals and groups of children in mainstream schools who are experiencing social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding individual who is able to form positive relationships with children and adults and has a passion for improving the outcomes of young people. Good communication skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations are essential. You will have a caring and child centered approach with an ability to show empathy, perseverance, personal resilience, patience and an ability to work flexibly as part of a supportive team.
