Job overview
SECOND IN AREA - SCIENCE GRANGE TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE
Grange is a secondary academy located at the Southfield Grange Campus in the city of Bradford. We serve some of the most disadvantaged students in the country and can offer a unique and rewarding environment for committed and highly skilled professionals who are interested in pursuing an extraordinary challenge in teaching.
Why now and why here? Let’s be honest, in May 2016 Grange was graded ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted and placed into special measures. We are now under new, experienced leadership who have a track record of success in similar circumstances. Now is the time to do things differently and better and the work is well underway. We have now received three monitoring visits by Ofsted who on all three occasions confirmed that “leaders and managers are taking effective action towards the removal of special measures.” The subsequent Ofsted monitoring letters give detailed evidence of our progress against a rigorous school improvement plan which is being constantly evaluated and reviewed. Read the letters in full at www.southfieldgrange.org.uk/grangeofsted Most recently, in the summer of 2017 we were delighted to report improved examination results both at GCSE and A Level, further evidence of our development as we aim to make Grange great again.
We know where we stand and have high aspirations to turn the school around to a grading of ‘good’ within two years. Our progress since May 2016 demonstrates that with the right people, a systematic approach and consistent application we will achieve this aim. This is a time of great opportunity at Grange to be part of a journey and to achieve the ultimate aim of giving our students the very best start in life; the start they deserve. Get on board now because our school is back on track and we are going places.

About Co-op Academy Grange
Grange, a unique challenge
Thank you for your interest in our school. We encourage you to read further, to take a careful look at the documentation about our vacancies and to research our work as deeply as possible.
Grange is a part of The Southfield Grange Trust, a multi-academy trust established in 2013. The school is co-located with Southfield School, a 'generic' special school at the Southfield Grange Campus in South Bradford.
So what can we offer?
Grange is a secondary academy located in the city of Bradford. We serve some of the most disadvantaged students in the country and can offer a unique and rewarding environment for committed and highly skilled professionals who are interested in pursuing an extraordinary challenge in teaching.
Grange Technology College is a larger than average inner-city academy, the largest school in south Bradford, serving the BD5 postcode, within the Little Horton ward. 45% of households are described as either D- working class or E – non-working. 42% of properties have three or more bedrooms. The largest ethnic group is Pakistani at 43% (Bradford 20%) and second largest white British at 15% (Bradford 64%). 17% of people living in Bradford were born outside the UK. The 2011 census identifies 80% of homes in BD5 having one or more deprivation dimensions. Bradford authority identifies a clear correlation between wards with high deprivation and a lack of positive outcomes across a range of measures.
Why now and why here?
Following an Ofsted inspection at the end of January 2019, Grange Technology College has received a positive report from Ofsted. The inspectors from Ofsted stated in their report: “leaders and staff work extremely hard to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all pupils. They have created a culture which recognises each pupil as an individual, as well as continuing to develop an understanding of the community the school serves.”
Led by Miss Mander and the senior staff, Ofsted has judged that the school has improved after much hard work from the staff and students of Grange over the past 2 and a half years. We are not resting, and already working hard and looking to improve on the feedback given in the recent report. You can read the full report here: http://www.southfieldgrange.org.uk/grange-ofsted
This is a time of great opportunity at Grange to be part of a journey and to achieve the ultimate aim of giving our students the very best start in life; the start they deserve. Get on board now because our school is back on track and we are going places. And with our upcoming merger with the Co-op Academies Trust in the Spring of 2019, now is such an exciting time to join Grange and make your mark on this journey.
