About the School 

The British School Quito  is Ecuador's only truly British international school, where the English National Curriculum is taught with strong links to local language and culture. We are proud of our joint British-Ecuadorian roots and have a very strong reputation in the local and international community resulting in growing numbers and opportunities for expansion. Our Secondary Curriculum is based on UK best practice and content at KS3 with a strong focus on local context; the KS4 Curriculum follows the Cambridge IGCSE programme and our KS5 Curriculum follows the IBDP.

British School Quito is a non-profit foundation, with the sole purpose of providing education. We are an IB World School, accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and COBIS and are members of the LAHC. We are also licensed and accredited by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education. The school is located in the beautiful Cumbaya valley to the East of Quito and 20 minutes from the airport. The Early Years, Primary and Secondary sections are all on one campus, which has rich local flora and fauna – hummingbirds are daily visitors to most areas. The school has an ICT lab, science laboratories, art and music facilities, a cafeteria, playgrounds, swimming pool and a sports field. About the Role

TThe role is due to start from August 2022 and will be to teach a range of secondary classes across all ages depending on experience.

BSQ has already built its reputation on high quality and high standards and as such it has similar high expectations of its staff.   The school therefore welcomes fully qualified, flexible, creative, child-centred teachers who will further enhance the quality of teaching and learning and also be excited to contribute to the extra-curricular life of this busy school. 

Applicants must have a relevant Bachelor degree and UK Qualified Teacher Status.  Applicants must speak fluent English and hold British citizenship in order to secure the necessary visa. We welcome applications from NQTs with excellent references.

Interviews will take place online. As part of the school’s commitment to safeguarding, all post-holders are subject to background checks and will be required to present either a DBS certificate alongside a current update from the DBS service, or an International Child Protection Certificate administered by ACRO https://www.acro.police.uk/icpc/  (if ever worked or lived in the UK). Prohibition Checks will also be required where appropriate and/or Criminal Records (Police Check) from your most recent country of residence.

The British School Quito is an international quality, English language, British curriculum school with Ecuadorian Social Studies and Spanish as core subjects. The school has over 330 students from ages 3-18

There is a full time bilingual assistant assigned to each Early Years and Primary class. Learning Assistance and ESL programs are available. Students in the primary school follow the UK National Curriculum core enriched with Ecuadorian and global content. Students in the secondary school follow the KS3 National Curriculum, IGCSE programs of study in years 10-11 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in years 12-13.
