Job overview

Are you the right person to join us in our IB World School here in Budapest and help us continue our journey towards excellence as we develop exciting and innovative MYP and DP courses?

With the expansion of our student body, Budapest British International School (BBIS) is seeking an exceptional, innovative educator to join our community. BBIS provides a 'students first' education, where every child is recognised, valued and included. We are guided by the values of the IB and the mission of our founder: academic excellence by achieving more than you think you can.

BBIS' creative, inspiring educators work in a collaborative, student-centred learning environment. You'll join a small but highly supportive team of professional educators in a dynamic environment.

Successful candidates should have knowledge and experience teaching IB, MYP, & DP Mathematics. They must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a recognised teaching qualification and have completed recent IB MYP training. They must demonstrate compatibility with the IB philosophy and the flexibility and commitment needed to meet the demands of an innovative and expanding school.

Any of the following would provide a candidate with a distinct advantage:

  • Existing experience within an IB Authorised programme
  • IB recognised professional development for MYP &/or DP at CAT1 , CAT 2 & 3
  • Experience in preparing for the MYP Personal Projects, and DP Extended Essays
  • IB Examiner for MYP or DP
  • Interest in and some experience in teaching TOK
  • Interest in supervising CAS activities

Formed 7 years ago, BBIS is located in Buda, the leafy side of Budapest. Our current roll of 335 students from 3-18 is expanding to a maximum of 480, representing many different nationalities.

Tell us how you think you could add value to our school and how you conceptualise the role of a teacher of English. Please use the TES application form to submit your details, along with your letter of application and your CV.

Please contact the school office for any specific information you might require. You are most welcome to speak to our Co-Heads of Secondary for an informal conversation before making an application by contacting david.wheatley@bbis.hu or penny.clements@bbis.hu

The shortlisted candidates may be invited to a first-round video interview by Sparkhire and a second-round video interview. BBIS reserves the right to arrange Spark hire/Skype interviews for suitable candidates before the closing date.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 3rd April, at 5:00 pm.

BBIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and will check the suitability of staff to work with children. Applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and overseas police checks (where necessary).

About Budapest British International School

At Budapest British International School, we believe that a successful education is all about inspired, imaginative teaching, centred on the learner as an individual. We nurture students not only to achieve academic success but also to become true global citizens.

BBIS is an International Baccalaureate World School. We work with children from the Early Years who enjoy the Primary Years Learning Activites within our Candidacy Programme. This is the basis of their learning and then as the children become young adults, we work within the IB Middle Years Programme and IB Diploma in our Secondary School. Our school community is made up of over 420 students from over 30 nations. We pride ourselves on a small family with big ambitions!

BBIS is the only school in Budapest to offer a Secondary continuum of IB-accredited programmes: the IB MYP and DP.

Our programmes feature an inquiry approach that aligns student interests with what they learn, thereby enriching their natural curiosity and promoting a love of learning. Our team of internationally-experienced, skilled and passionate teachers model the attributes of the IB Learner Profile and encourage students to respect themselves, others and the world around them.

A strong sense of common purpose pervades our learning community. We believe that trust and strong parental participation are an integral part of quality education and we see parents as our partners in their children’s learning journey.

Thank you for your interest in BBIS. We look forward to welcoming you.
