About Us

White Trees School are currently recruiting for a SEMH Science Teacher to head up our new and exciting Science Laboratory, working with KS3, 4 & 5 pupils.

White Trees is an independent school that specialises in working with pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and innovative Teacher of all Sciences to join our team. So, if you love your subject and want to inspire young people to fulfil their potential, we are the place for you.

We are linked closely to multiple School sites within the Group and share the same Headteacher and Senior Management Team, however each site has its own Lead, team of Teachers, Tutors and TA’s. 

Although the sites operate separately on the whole, students and staff do cross between sites occasionally to access various activities and learning opportunities.

About the Role

As a SEMH Teacher for White Trees Independent School you are responsible for the teaching of pupils with ASD and/or have ADHD, PDA, OCD, ODD. 

All pupils have an Education Health and Care Plan, with ILP’s written based upon outcomes and aims from their EHCP’s, which identify strategies and interventions to support their needs.

Responsibilities

• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualised and small group instruction, and student learning

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction

• Develop lessons that allow students to explore science content in a lab setting

• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed

Qualifications and Skills required

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject such as chemistry, biology or physics

• Knowledge and/or a keen interest and understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs that are associated with SEMH students

• A co-operative working style and a proactive approach to solving problems

• Good interpersonal and communication skill and a caring attitude
