We are seeking to appoint a dynamic SEN Teacher to join our College from January 2022. We are looking for a person with vision, drive and sound judgement who works well within a team. We support around 80 pupils with many varying complex needs including ASD, Specific learning Difficulties (SpLd), Social, Emotional, Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), Moderate learning Difficulties (MLD), and Profound, Multiple, Learning Difficulties (PMLD). The successful candidate would work alongside the SENCO supporting students in Year 9 to Year 13 in fully accessing our full and vibrant curriculum. A strength in SEMH and knowledge of students with low processing skills would be advantageous.

The candidate must have a real enthusiasm for ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to all, and the ability to inspire students. We are an academically ambitious College, which is reflected in our A level grades and university place offers.

At HFAC, we focus on developing students’ independent thinking and learning skills, as well as delivering high-level subject knowledge. We engage students beyond the classroom with study trips, guest speakers, and enrichment talks. Our class size is a maximum of 9, which allows a high level of student interaction, debate and personal engagement.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively as a member of the departments, playing their full part in planning, teaching and assessment.

Knowledge and experience of applying for and implementing exam access arrangements desirable.

Please note that HFAC seeks to find the right candidate for the job with the aim of promoting equality of opportunity irrespective of age or race and welcomes applications from diverse candidates. As HFAC meets the requirements in respect of exempted questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all applicants who are offered employment will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure of criminal background from the Disclosure and Barring Service before their appointment is confirmed.
