Job overview

“The headteacher, leaders and governors have  successfully created a culture where every pupil is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve the best that they can. The quality of care and guidance is excellent” Ofsted   2016.

We are seeking an experienced professional who is proficient in supporting young people as a mentor, or teaching assistant, with the ability to manage a team of up to 20 student support staff. Our student support faculty is integral to  the school’s vision to ensure the young people in our school overcome barriers to their learning and achieve their full potential. We have enhanced the provision for students and staff in our inclusion suite and we have also increased our permanent staffing within this area.

You will work closely with teachers to provide care and supervision to young people and also to enhance the   additional adult provision through the inclusion suite.  You will therefore need to have the knowledge, tenacity and communication skills to ensure students overcome   barriers to learning. Equally, you will need organisational and networking skills to ensure you motivate and develop your team.

This fulfilling role will provide a wealth of developmental opportunities and we will ensure you receive a comprehensive induction programme. Every day will be different and we will play to your strengths. We have a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and recognition, and offer a range of benefits which include the local government pension scheme, cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes, discounted gym membership, free parking and an employee discount scheme.

Castle Phoenix has a great deal to be proud of, with a relentless focus on excellence and a desire to continuously improve. If you have the passion and determination to be a valued part of our team, we would love to hear from you.

The role includes the delivery of manual handling training to our support staff. It would be ideal if you were already trained to train others but this is not essential as we would invest in you and organise comprehensive, external training to ensure you are  professionally trained to deliver this.

If you are passionate about improving students’ life chances, as we are, please contact Emma Over, HR Director for information, an informal discussion about the post or to arrange a visit.

For further information or to arrange a visit please   contact Emma Over, HR Director HumanResources@caludoncastle.co.uk Application packs are available from Emma Over or visit our website http://castlephoenixtrust.org.uk/job-opportunities/vacancies/  to download further details. Closing date: Tuesday 27 February 2018 at 9.00 am   Interview Date: Thursday 1 March 2018

37 hours per week, term time only plus 5 teacher training days, plus one week.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Ofsted report

“Teaching is good across the academy overall and in English, drama, music; history and science inspectors saw evidence of outstanding teaching over time. Teachers are using the academy’s new assessment system effectively to plan lessons that meet the needs of pupils well. Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a strength in the academy. Pupils in the main school and learners in the sixth form have an excellent understanding of the wider world, their responsibilities as future citizens and the importance of respect and tolerance. Behaviour is good in lessons and around the academy because the expectations of leaders and teachers are high. Pupils arrive at lessons keen to learn.”
