Job overview

The Art and Design Department

Art and Design plays an important part in the lives of the students at Rugby School Thailand. As an international School with exceptional facilities, we expect demand for Art and Design will grow as the School grows.

The Art Department offers a programme of art education from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 leading to UK GCSE and A Level examinations in Fine Art. At Key Stage 3, the department offers a Foundation Course which is based on the UK curriculum and designed to introduce students to a range of media and processes.

Purpose of the Role

The Teacher of Art and Design will be a part of a dynamic Art and Design programme at Rugby School Thailand. The individual will nurture a culture of excellence both in the theoretical and practical dimensions of the study of Art and Design. He/she will also build a culture of creativity that is celebrated by exhibitions in the School’s gallery.

The ideal candidate should be able to teach different art techniques to students of all ages (KS3 - 5). A working knowledge in Photography and Photoshop is also desired with experience of, or a desire to teach, Photography A-Level.

Candidates with experience of teaching Design Technology at KS2 or 3 would be welcomed to apply.

The Art and Design department has outstanding facilities that will afford students every opportunity to follow their creative passions. Teachers are expected to establish a regular exhibition programme of students’ work, as well as support a programme of visiting artists.

Where appropriate, teachers of Art and Design will also take students to exhibitions and workshops as appropriate, and accessible in Thailand and abroad.

Closing Date: 2nd January 2023

Contract Term: 2 Years

(Rugby School Thailand reserves the right to appoint by invitation before the closing date.)

It aspires to be one of Asia’s leading British-curriculum schools. It opened its doors in 2017 and today educates 800 pupils aged 2 to 18 in its purpose-built Pre-Prep, Prep School and Senior School. The school roll will continue to grow towards an expected capacity of 1,200 pupils.

Rugby School Thailand is selective and the student roll comprises approximately 55% expatriate and 45% Thai pupils. It is situated in stunning countryside in the district of Chonburi, approximately 12 miles from Pattaya’s coastline and 90 minutes by car from the centre of Bangkok. Rugby School Thailand is a member of the Rugby School Group and the first sister school of Rugby School, one of the UK’s most famous boarding schools.
