Job overview

Teacher of Biology

Main Pay Scale

Required from 1 September 2023 (or sooner)

A competitive recruitment allowance is available for a strong candidate.

The Science Faculty at Denefield is an ambitious and innovative team - now working significantly above national average.

This success is based on:

  • Great curriculum resources – fully resourced, research informed, clear and coherent schemes of work based on the highest impact teaching strategies that mean you can spend time thinking about how to teach, not what to teach.
  • Strong centralised behaviour systems – we believe in clear routines and respectful responses which facilitate excellent relationships. We adopt a stage system within class where students are given every opportunity to rectify behaviour, if these opportunities are not taken, the student will be collected from your lesson to restore the excellent learning environment.
  • Efficient solutions – we focus on evidence-based approaches where teacher-time spent is commensurate with student outcomes. This means, for example, that we use methods of feedback that are designed to move learning forward; you should be spending time on things that will make a difference.
  • Commitment to high quality CPD – we’ll use the best research to support and challenge you to be an excellent practitioner.
  • Staff wellbeing as a priority – efficient solutions are the most important thing here but we also work closely together with a focus on developing practice and supporting each other in the good times and the bad.

We are looking for staff who:

  • Want to be excellent practitioners.
  • Are keen to work together to achieve our shared aims - to be the best science department in the county, country and then the world!
  • Are committed to pushing all our students be the best they can be.
  • Are reflective practitioners – keen to engage with research to continually improve practice.
  • Are curious about finding creative solutions to tricky problems and building leadership capacity across the whole school.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you. Full or part-time applications are welcome.

Denefield is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks along with online searches and other relevant employment checks. CVs will not be accepted. In our school we are committed to securing genuine equality of opportunity in all aspects of our activities as an employer and education provider.

Completed applications, submitted directly via the TES website, should reach us by

9.00am, Monday 6 February 2023.

Please note that we reserve the right to call candidates to interview before the closing date. As such, early applications are welcome.
