Job overview

We're looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, talented and inspirational permanent Teacher of Design Technology:

·      You’ll be an experiences Teacher of Design Technology and consistently deliver good / outstanding lessons and student outcomes

·      You'll secure and sustain a positive climate to learning and behaviour of students

·      You'll promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom

·      You'll encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage, challenge, motivate and reinforce self-esteem with all students in activities

·      You'll support the Curriculum Leader in all aspects of the leadership and management of the Design Technology area.  

·      You'll ensure that high standards of teaching and marking, assessment and feedback lead to good and outstanding progress and attainment in Design Technology for all students  

·      You'll alongside the Curriculum Leader inspire, motivate and influence staff, in securing the highest standards of teaching and learning in order to promote student progress   

·      You'll alongside the Curriculum Leader develop and embed, as required, a consistent approach to marking assessment and feedback  

·      You'll form part of PE leaders who with the Curriculum Leader lead the strategic direction of the Area

You will demonstrate;

·      Recent, relevant teaching (or teaching practice) of KS3 and KS4 Design Technology in a secondary / comprehensive school

·      Up to date knowledge of the Design Technology curriculum at KS3 and KS4

·      Energy, persistence and enthusiasm, tempered with humour

·      Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate well with both children and adults

·      Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities

You’ll have Qualified Teacher Status and be prepared to embark upon further training as required.

We’re a larger than average inner-city academy in Bradford, within the Little Horton ward (BD5). We are a part of a vibrant and diverse community, with 13 of the possible 17 ethnic groups represented in school. We celebrate our pupils’ talents, including the high number of pupils who are multilingual. Pupils with SEND are well supported, including through our resourced provision. Our building is shared with a special school, Co-op Academy Southfield, and this brings with it lots of opportunities to collaborate.
