Job overview
Teacher of PE (Girls)
From: September 2023
Salary: MPS/UPS
Rawlins Church of England Academy is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Physical Education to join our fantastic team and flourishing school. Our ideal candidate will have a love for the subject and a passion for teaching so that our pupils thrive. The post has arisen due to our female member of staff emigrating.
The PE Department is a mix of both experienced and more recently qualified staff and has a number of outstanding individuals who regularly share their expertise. The Department works collaboratively, and so successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the team to support the continual drive for improvement. The combination of teamwork, an outward looking approach and a willingness to reflect internally upon best practice, has resulted in outstanding results across a range of qualifications at both GCSE and A Level. Staff participate fully within the Department supporting and offering further opportunities to pupils across our extensive extra-curricular programme. An ability to offer netball, dance, gymnastics, fitness or rounders would be of benefit.
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of Leicestershire’s largest secondary school, with over 1500 on roll including more than 300 in our A-level specific Sixth Form. We are a highly inclusive school having our own Autism and a Moderate Learning Difficulties specialist unit on site alongside our school’s SEND support base and Success Centre known as ‘The Hive’. Pupils who attend these units are an integrated part of our school community.
There is a strong sense of community in the school, the village of Quorn and the surrounding areas with a committed and aspirational parent support base. Teamwork and making the most of every opportunity is a key feature of school life. We aim to inspire our pupils to find their talents and their passions through a broad and balanced curriculum; to be curious about learning; to relish a challenge and to have both confidence and resilience. Applications are therefore welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.
Our core purpose is summed up in our vision and values:
Developing Trust | Inspiring Hope | Building Success | Shaping the Future
Through: Compassion, Wisdom and Endurance
And via our motto: Act wisely and make the most of every opportunity

With its 300 year history Rawlins is routed in the small village community of Quorn in which it is located. Close to the university town of Loughborough, it is well served by a good range of facilities, retaining an old world charm. Quorn is surrounded by beautiful countryside in the heart of Charnwood.
Rawlins is a popular and successful 11-19 Academy serving a diverse catchment area. The Loughborough area recently underwent a major educational restructure from 11-14 high schools and 14-19 upper schools to all through schools. Now that this transition is complete and embedded, Rawlins is ready to move to the next stage of development. Our aim is to be a beacon of inclusion and innovation. Currently we are oversubscribed at Key Stage 3, and we also attract a large number of external pupils to our Sixth Form.
We are an inclusive school having an ASD and a Moderate Learning Difficulties specialist unit on site alongside our school’s SEND support base and Success Centre. Pupils who attend these units are an integrated part of our school community and taught within the school by mainstream staff.
Beyond results, we are very proud of the opportunities which all students have across many successful areas including sport, the arts and charity work. We aim to inspire our pupils to find their talents and their passions through a broad and balanced curriculum; to be curious about learning; to relish a challenge and to have both confidence and resilience.
