Teacher of Physical Education

Amity International school, Abu Dhabi is looking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of PE to support the secondary school academic PE curriculum (GCSE, A-level, and possibly BTEC) programmes. PE staff are also expected to have a higher co-curricular sport commitment for which there is timetable compensation. The post is for August 2023.

Both PE and Sport are popular and thriving at the school. Although the school very much promotes participation over spectatorship and as a result, promotes an inclusive sports provision, the school also has its own Elite Player Pathway (EPP) programme that supports talented students who often compete at a National or in some cases, International level. The school has many unrivalled sports facilities. These include its own sailing and watersports centre, full-size floodlit football pitch, tennis and netball courts, basketball courts, sprung-floor dance studio, two fitness suites, and two indoor swimming pools, one of which is a 50m with six lanes. The school also makes use of many of the outstanding facilities available within the city. The school competes as part of the BSME (British Schools Middle East) and ADISSA (Abu Dhabi International Schools Sports Association) leagues, and in other government and school-run tournaments.

In order to support the fast growing secondary school (Y11-13), the school is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate teacher to join and potentially lead all or part of the secondary PE public examination courses. The school currently runs GCSE and A level PE and is considering BTEC courses from September 2023. There will also be opportunity to be involved in sport across the whole school should the candidate wish.
