Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of Physics on a full-time permanent basis from April 2022. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving young independent day school for boys aged 11-18 situated in the heart of London. Since opening in 2015 the School has quickly grown to around 400 boys and, following on from strong GCSE results, this summer they celebrated the success of their first A-Level pupils who took up places at some of the most competitive universities in the UK, Europe and North America.

The school is to provide an outstanding, progressive all-round education, supporting their pupils to achieve academically and to develop as people, fully preparing them to meet the challenges of being a young man in the twenty-first century and ready to contribute to the communities in which they live.

Academic excellence is central and complemented by their aim to nurture genuine enjoyment of learning and intellectual curiosity.  Their pupils take pride in their progress, actively participate in their learning in the classroom and gradually become independent learners. The school was highly successful in delivering remote learning and now has e-learning embedded in the curriculum.

The Physics Department follows the Exploring Science course for Years 7 and 8 and we start the Edexcel IGCSE Physics course during the first term in Year 9. At A level we follow the AQA A level. The aim of the department is to provide exciting and interactive lessons where the boys can learn hands-on in the classroom.

The school are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Physics to join an exciting department. The boys’ performance in public examinations has been strong and A level physics has grown in popularity. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about contributing to the department and preparing the boys to study at leading universities in the UK and abroad. A willingness to play a part in the co-curricular programme and to be a pastoral tutor would be an advantage.

The Successful Candidate:

1. Have outstanding subject knowledge, academic qualifications and be able to communicate their enthusiasm.

2. Be able to deliver dynamic and effective lessons to the full ability range of pupils at the School.

3. Highly effective communication skills for interacting with all members of the School community.

4. A genuine commitment to pastoral care and the welfare and safeguarding of pupils.

5. Interests and abilities that can enhance the School’s co-curricular programme.

6. Excellent interpersonal skills.

7. Excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills.
