Job overview

Tes are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and inspirational Year 3 Teachers from January 2022. Both experienced and newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.

ROLE 1: Full-time, permanent

ROLE 2: Full-time, fixed-term

This is an exciting opportunity to join a two form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. It follows exactly the same curriculum and shares the same values and ethos as the senior school and is an integral part of the Group of schools. Boys receive very high levels of academic education and pastoral care. It is part of a renowned trust, which is one of the country's leading educational groups.

This is a great opportunity for two qualified, imaginative and driven teachers who work with equal efficacy independently and as part of a team. Applicants will join an innovative, forward-thinking and committed team. The position would suit dynamic teachers who are able to inspire pupils of all abilities to develop their full potential.

Experience of teaching in Key Stage 1 or 2 is essential as is a thorough up-to-date knowledge and experience of the curriculum. Knowledge and experience of working in the London Day School system in either the 7+ or the 8+ year groups is desirable but not essential. What is also important is your ability to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning and to have the skills and maturity required to take on the teaching duties and responsibilities in a relatively new year group.

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • To plan, prepare, and implement the agreed school curriculum to cater for the needs of all children within the assigned class and any other class taught
  • To provide a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere that is conducive to the social and emotional needs of the children within the class
  • To conduct lessons according to the agreed policy and syllabus
  • To observe and evaluate the progress of each child and to record this progress as defined by the school
  • To provide pastoral support for the class, ensuring each child is given the opportunity to reach their potential and be alert to any signs of emotional distress
  • To efficiently mark and comment upon the pupil’s work as defined in the school policy
  • To assess and evaluate pupil’s progress using the school’s agreed monitoring and assessment procedures
  • To create an engaging, stimulating and relevant learning environment through displays and classroom organisation
  • To set clear expectations for support staff and learners with regard to learning objectives and next steps for future progress in this regard

The Successful Candidate:

  • Be a fully qualified teacher
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner who values children
  • Have high, though realistic expectations of the children
  • Have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of the teaching year group curriculum
  • Have experience with the London Day Schools examination procedures
  • Ideally will have experience of teaching and preparing boys for 7+ or 8+
  • Be committed to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning
  • Be a committed, dynamic and pro-active teacher and a cheerful, friendly and cooperative member of the staff
