This is a nice, fun activity for the end of term or for a one-off lesson. Easily adapted to fit the ability of the group and the resources available. Split the class into small groups (between 3 and 5 in a group). Every pupil must only be allowed to start with one pen and pencil. Each group needs to complete a series of tasks but will first 'bid' for equipment that will help them do the tasks. Each group should be given a fixed budget at the start.

This is just what I was looking for. It's easy to adapt the tasks for the abilities of your students, or to suit what they have been studying recently. Really engaging, hands-on maths that the class loved. Thanks for saving me the time of making it myself - a godsend!

I love this resource, students have to bid in order to buy various pieces of equipment which they will need to complete a set of questions. Some of the pieces of equipment are not needed but some are so it would be interesting to see whether students work out which are more valuable. Then they have to complete the questions which cover a lot of topics. This would make a really fun lesson which requires the students to think about using equipment which is often overlooked. Thank you for sharing.
