A Christmas Carol context - Poverty Game

In this fun and educational lesson, students are asked to survive a week as a child in a large working class Victorian family. They must spend their money wisely, navigating through a series of choices and obstacles. This fun game helps them to understand exactly what poverty looked (and felt) like in Victorian times, to help their understanding of the context of 19th century literature, particularly A Christmas Carol!

All you need is this powerpoint, and a printer to print off copies of the budgeting table (included on slide!)

Extension activity included, but this game should last all lesson!

Have fun! :)
