An adaptable card sort game to help candidates learn and understand all the mechanisms required for AQA A-level Chemistry. This resource can be used as a stand-alone tool to help candidates learn only those mechanisms required for the A-level only part of the spec or could be combined with my AS version to create a really challenging revision tool.

There are 5 categories of card which allow the resource to be used in a number of ways. The first category shows the displayed formula of the starting material with the reagent, the second is the mechanism name, the third and crucial for understanding is the displayed formula of the intermediate. the fourth the displayed formula of the product and the fifth, the name of the product.

The simplest forms include simple nomenclature or matching the mechanism name with the reaction. More challenging is to add in the reactive intermediates or alternatively remove the displayed formulae of the product to make matching the name of the product more difficult.

Please see my shop for other tried-and-tested quality resources including the AS version.

Easy to use and very useful, HOWEVER, students have to be quite good ability for this to work otherwise overwhelming. For lower grade students remover intermediates and reduce amount fo mechanisms handed out.
