An Introduction to Economics - Taster Lesson
A comprehensive and fun introduction to Economics that is enjoyable to deliver and suitable for ages anywhere between 14-17. An ideal resource to encourage students to study Economics.

Included is:
- A PowerPoint with workbook answers
- A well formatted 9-page workbook containing six short activities that will last up to 60-90 minutes in total.

Not included:
- Everything is included except sweets which are needed for the 2 minute introductory activity.

1. The Starburst Problem (students experience the basic economic problem first hand)

2. An Introduction to Opportunity Cost (students reflect on their own life choices to understand this integral economic concept)

3. Applications of Opportunity Cost (students now apply their understanding to answer accessible real-world questions on opportunity cost)

4. Opportunity Cost Problem Solving Activity (students must now analyse a numerical example of how opportunity cost applies to time)

5. Bankers Bonuses & Thinking Like an Economist (students first provide a moral answer to whether it's right that bankers should receive such high pay and are then prompted to write a more logical answer explaining why bankers receive higher pay)

6. Incentives Matter - Money Isn't Enough! (students look at two real-world applied examples of how two businesses try to motivate their employees)

The workbook also contains a paragraph entitled: 'What can I do if I study Economics?' to illustrate the breadth of careers available to students of Economics.
