These are sheets (A4) which are designed to be glued in students exercise books and help students to focus on key points for the required practical when completing a full write up. Students can tick what they have done and score themselves. The sheet give teachers a platform on which they can provide feedback. There are sheets for all chemistry required practicals.
These have been designed to make students focus on: Development of Scientific Thinking, Experimental skills and Strategies, Analysis and Evaluation (all WS within the spec), apparatus and techniques (AT). Each required assessment sheet has been designed to only focus on the areas above for that individual required practical (as suggested by the spec), so that marking and student time is smartened.
They work really well with exam style questions where students can apply what they have learnt during the practical write up.
I tend to live mark and the students peer mark - and periodically mark a whole set.
They are designed as formative sheets, not scaffolded and differentiated help sheets. However, there is a basic help sheet right at the end of all the assessments.
