This is a collection of six activities to support the teaching of AQA A level Chemistry Topic 3.2.2 Group 2, the alkaline earth metals. The pack contains:
G2,1 a paper based activity using Flue Gas Desulphurisation as a context for questions on Group 2 chemistry and Amounts of Substance
G2.2 a paper based activity in the form of a blank crossword grid and clues.
G2.2b is a web based version of the crossword which can be used on most modern browsers.
G2.3 is a paper based activity using an industrial and medical context to consider the properties and uses of barium sulfate.
G2.4 is a literacy based starter. Students have to use the letters from “Hydroxides” to build a series of words corresponding to clues on the slide.
G2.5 is an adaptable self check quiz based on an Excel spreadsheet. It covers trends in the properties of Group 2 elements.
