Presentation used in KS3 English as part of a unit on dialect, idiolect and functions of speech. The presentation was based on the contributions of 8 colleagues from different areas within England. The members of staff volunteered a number of terms that were part of everyday speech for their region. These were presented to the students who were asked to research (ICT) the meanings of the words. This activity was a springboard to a wide ranging discussion about the use of language in different areas and eras. The whole presentation contains 27 slides including some printer friendly (monochrome) slides for written work. Hyperlinks for ease of navigation are embedded throughout.
