2 KS3 History Lessons covering the causes of the First World War.
Students are introduced to the ‘Great War’ and why it was called this before looking into the four causes (nationalism, militarism, imperialism and alliances).
Students will then answer questions based on two sources related to these.
The second lesson introduces the main short term causes of the First World War: the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Students will follow the route he took through Sarajevo before being assassinated by Gavrilo Princip and the Black Hand.
Students will then look at the timeline of events after this and how it led to war in Europe.
