Powerpoint and accompanying resources to teach students about the Chernobyl disaster (causes and impacts), introduce them to a key skill (isoline mapping) and introduce the idea of dark tourism and why Chernobyl & Pripyat have become such tourism destinations.

Alongside creating a mini case-study of the disaster, this lesson encourages empathy and respect, as well as geographical enquiry- asking relevant questions to find out about a location or event.

Desgined to take ~2 hours though could be flexible/edited to be shorter or longer, depending on requirements.

Included are:

  • Powerpoint
  • Mini fact-file/case study template
  • Differentiated isoline maps
  • Images to introduce dark tourism

Impacts Map & Cards can be found via Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament website.
