READY TO TEACH

Present slide 1, pupils are to focus on remembering as many impacts of climate change as possible (perhaps give them the time it takes for the register to be taken), then remove the slide. Recap on the whiteboard different examples pupils have remembered.

With reference to slide two, make reference to differing opinions held on climate change. Lead the class into a discussion as to whether we should be concerned about climate change.

Pupils make note of the key terms (slide 4). Discuss the possible future of London as a result of climate change (slides 5-10). Explore the different effects of climate change upon countries throughout the world (this task can be completed as a class, or made into a card sort for pupils to complete with access to an atlas). Summarise with a recap of the main global effects of climate change (slide 12).

As a quick recap, pupils are to identify whether the image conveys a cause or an effect of climate change (slides 13-23).

If time permitting, you may wish to discuss how LICs of the world are more likely to be more severely affected by climate change than HICs (refer to their geographical location and lack of resources to tackle climate change).
