LESSON 7-11 IN THE SERIES. This five- lesson resource is part of a tailored unit to help students understand the differences between writing for Component 1 and 2. I have designed the ‘HUMANS’ and ‘The RETURNED’ lessons separately so as to focus on all of RAIL (Representation, Audience, Industry and Language (Media) respectively. ‘THE RETURNED’ lessons will follow exactly the same format as the ‘HUMANS’’ series of lessons and will include 4 Power Points, one on each of the RAIL terms. There will also be a lesson on Narrative and Post-Modernism where both forms will be combined into one lesson due the difficulty students often have with such concepts (THIS IS THAT LESSON). It is my intention to teach my students the RAIL term for ‘HUMANS’ and then ‘THE RETURNED’ to aid their compare and contrasting. This five-lesson structure features:

-Discovery learning task to get students thinking about Post-modernism/grasping its main concepts, based upon select pages from the Year 2 EDUQAS Revision Guide (Worksheet provided, to be done in groups that feedback for differentiated responses).
-Social Constructs
-Simulacra
-Simulations
-Reflexivity
-Intertextuality
-Hybridity and eclecticism
-Bricolage
-Parody or pastiche
-Hyper reality
-Irony
-Theodore Adorno- High V Low Culture
-John Fikse-Views on Culture
-Jean Baudrillard
-Pluralism
-A variety of clips that support my 'Seven Survival tips for Post-Modernism e.g. Black Mirror, The Simpsons, Ready Player One, Quentin Tarantino.
-Reviewing EDUQAS comments in Staff Notes
-Mastery sheet to be done as a mock and in a single lesson.
-Detailed notes on how to support learners and on clips that you may/ may not be familiar with.
-A fun and engaging approach to what is in my opinion, the highest level theory we teach in A Level Media.

THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES A WORKSHEET.

NOTE: I am following EDUQAS Teaching Model 1 in my teaching/ SOW and my school is only providing Media Studies at A-Level, as a Two- Year Course. Moreover, each lesson has a task whereby students RAG (Red, Amber, Green) what they have learnt in the lesson against an Examiner checklist (Differentiation, peer assessment).

If you liked this resource and found it useful, it would be greatly appreciated if you could feedback or rate my resource as I am constantly trying to adapt and refine my resources to improve the learning of my students. Many thanks.
