This file contains a worksheet (and answer sheet, with answer timings in the documentary) for pupils to complete as they watch David Attenborough’s BBC Series ‘Attenboroughs Life in Colour’, Episode 2 on ‘Hiding in Colour’ from 0-48 minutes.

This fits in nicely with the following units of AQA GCSE Biology:

  • B5 as it discusses mimicry as a source of plant and animal defence
  • B15 as is discusses ‘warning colours’ in animals (Alfred Russel Wallace)
  • B16 as it shows shows how animals, such as the Artic fox, adapt to their surroundings during seasonal changes

The worksheet contains 16 short-answer questions throughout the documentary to keep students engaged. I highly recommend that if showing this to a classroom of students you turn on the subtitles to make it easier for them to identify the answers.
