Engaging activity where students have problems to solve given a crime scenario clues
This is for Maths teachers looking to engage a class. You are given clues to a crime that has taken place (these are best cut up for students but to support lower attainers you could order the clues.) Students have some questions to answer by organising and completing calculations involving time, speed, and most of all problem solving skills. This activity will last a good ten minutes for a GCSE groups with targets grades of 4-5. I have used this with several groups over the past few years and student engagement is outstanding when doing the activity.
