English Literature GCSE Conflict Poetry Comparisons: plans & example paragraphs

This is a GCSE English Literature Poetry powerpoint on the conflict cluster of poems. It is really useful to use as revision, to model how to draw links between two poems and how to write a comparison.

There are two slides on each of the following GCSE English Literature conflict question themes:

• Power in ‘Ozymandias’ and ‘Storm on the Island’ /’ My Last Duchess’
• Inner conflict in ‘Remains’ and ‘War Photographer’
• Nature in’ Storm on the Island’ and ‘Exposure’
• Power of memory in ‘Kamikaze’ and ‘Remains’

The two slides on each of the above contain either key questions or a plan that focuses on how to compare the two poems, followed by a model paragraph comparison on each theme. This on powerpoint could easily be used for 4 full lessons if students complete a plan on the two GCSE conflict poems to compare and practised writing a comparison too.
