FRENCH VERBS CONJUGATION FOCUSING ON FRENCH -ER VERBS IN THE PRESENT TENSE
I’ve selected 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs for the workbook - they’re verbs that I’m really keen for my students to know as soon as possible. My students really like these ‘quick conjugation’ workbooks, as they like to work independently, and find the quick recall really helps them get to grips with conjugation. There are 150 conjugations, and 3 differentiated conjugation challenges. There’s also an answer key, which is an absolute must for my students - they like to self and peer assess, and it also offers further opportunity to engage with and practice conjugating -ER verbs.
I use the workbooks in lots of different ways - for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for sub lessons - they’re really versatile!
I’ve included a couple of -GER and -CER verbs to ensure students are able to practice the addition of an E and Ç in the present tense NOUS form - I’ve found that students do need a little extra help with those.
The workbook format is:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: FRENCH-ENGLISH and ENGLISH-FRENCH.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
- NOTES & NEXT STEPS template, which my students revisit regularly, as it really helps them to think about their progress.
The answer key booklet has 6 pages - I always give my students an answer key for this kind of learning activity, as they are keen to work and learn independently.
MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BONNE CONJUGAISON !
