FRENCH CONJUGATION NEAR FUTURE TENSE This is a FRENCH REGULAR AND IRREGULAR -RE VERBS NEAR FUTURE TENSE WORKBOOK - I’ve selected 25 high-frequency French -re verbs which I find are really useful for my French students to know pretty much from the beginning of their learning. The workbook has 10 pages, 150 conjugations, 3 differentiated challenges and an accompanying 6-page answer key booklet. The answer key is an integral element of the conjugation activity - it gives my students a further opportunity to engage with the conjugations, and also helps them develop more independence in their learning. They also really enjoy assessing their own and each others’ work!
I’ve created a series of these quick conjugation workbooks, and have used them in my French classes for a very long time. My students find them really useful for both practice and revision across the whole school year - even my more advanced students benefit from, and enjoy, the opportunity to go ‘back to the beginning’! The workbook is useful in various learning contexts, such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover/sub lessons. My students like to have several opportunities to work through the workbook, a couple of times a semester across a whole school year. This helps them to map progress in a very clear and structured way.
The workbook is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: FRENCH-ENGLISH and ENGLISH-FRENCH.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
CONJUGATION CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
CONJUGATION CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
CONJUGATION CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
- NOTES & NEXT STEPS template, which my students visit regularly too - it really helps them to map their progress independently, and to think about what they may need to do to move on a little further. We sometimes do this together as a whole-group discussion, which works well too.
MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BONNE CONJUGAISON !
