A full essay on the character of Gerald Croft which answers a Q5 (English Language Paper 2) style question:

Some believe that the male characters in ‘AIC’ are unlikeable, capitalist and selfish, however, others think their actions are justified, they are simply products of patriarchal society to which they belong and are essentially harmless.
Write an article for your school explaining your view.

The piece argues (using appropriate persuasive features) that Gerald is unlikeable, selfish and a capitalist.

While the essay doesn’t follow the Literature style, (quotes are included but not analysed/ there is only context in two paragraphs) the essay is a useful aid to understanding how his character might be interpreted.

Also included: AIC key vocabulary sheet; persuasive vocabulary tailored to task; a check list for students to follow when writing.
