The presentation features:

  • A ‘hook’ activity to get students to work out what the assembly is about.
  • Briefly explores the history of pi, with reference to Archimedes.
  • Includes some practical mathematical application, e.g. calculating circumferences.
  • References to how mathematics was regarded through the ages, e.g. the maths of the ancient Egyptians (Horus, pyramids etc.), Jewish Kabbala (gematria), sacred geometry and the Fibbonaci sequence.
  • Reflections including quotes about maths.
  • Prayer at the end, ideal for Judeo-Christian faith schools.
  • Slides have clear information to help with presentation of the assembly.
