This lesson is suitable for upper KS2
The lesson gives pupils opportunities to explore, understand and analyse what micro organisms are and the food they are in; explain the yeast fermentation process and follow a recipe and bake a bread product.
Pupils will have a bread tasting session and write up what they have found out. This lesson has a linked maths lesson ‘weighing and baking’ which is included with this lesson. The Numeracy lesson would have to be taught prior to the science lesson, so results from the activity and bread baking can be written up.
