This is a lesson on simplifying surds and rationalisation. We start with proofs of some surd rules. Then go through progressively difficult examples of simplifying surds and rationlising denominators of fractions. Students are also introduced to the square and difference of two squares identities, and encouraged to use them whenever applicable.

The bundle contains both the lesson presentations with 'overlay animations', where steps are reviewed one at a time. There is also an accompanying presenter view pdf for teachers for each lesson ppt. The documents are prepared meticulously with LaTeX, I hope you find these useful.

In addition, you can get unlimited number of high quality practice questions and solutions for both lessons on my website: www.onemathsquestions.com. They are under topics "Power Indices". You can generate the worksheets yourself, and each question will come with a set of very detailed step by step solutions, set out in exactly the same way as the lesson presentation examples.

Hope you find these useful, and if you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to contact me through TES or my website.

Best wishes,

Joe
