This lesson provides students with an understanding of the historical context of Macbeth.Students examine each of the themes within Macbeth to try to determine why Shakespeare might have presented them in this particular way with regard to context (i.e.James I, 17th century values/ideologies etc.). The lesson also provides discussion topics relevant to each theme for students to consider and an exercise for them to complete at the end of the lesson.
