Measure length in cm and m and convert units - Teaching Presentation - Year 3

This presentation provides two days of teaching that cover the objectives:

• Measure lengths in cm and m;
• Convert units

It includes starter activities, whole class teaching, group activities, practice sheets and mastery questions. It can be used on a variety of interactive whiteboards.

Day 1 Teaching
Look at a metre stick and ascertain how many centimetres it is. Find 50cm, 25cm, 75cm, etc. Measure different objects in centimetres.

Day 2 Teaching
Choose suitable units to measure different objects. Measure our feet in cm. Discuss the need for a smaller unit. Demonstrate how to use mm for accuracy.
