Complete lesson for Geography GCSE 9-1: Tectonic Hazards (AQA 3.1.1.2 Section A) - Plate Boundaries. Includes presentation, worksheets and lesson plan. The lesson is suitable for all abilities, and should take around 1 hour to complete.

This lesson is designed to introduce KS4 (year 10 - 11) students to the topic of plate boundaries. Through a series of activities students explore the different types of plate boundary (contructive, destructive and conservative) and investigate the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes.

By the end of this lesson students will be able to:

  • Name and describe three different types of plate boundary
  • Explain the relationship between plate boundaries and earthquakes and volcanoes
  • Identify areas of the world with a high concentration of earthquakes and volcanoes, including the Ring of Fire
