This is a taster lesson for A level politics.

It is slightly personalised to me/my department but you can change names and pictures.

The main focus of this resource is on 2016 and what an unpredictable year it was.

I started with a video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mIBhjNha54

The I told the students that over the years I have had many students ask me to predict what would happen in each major political event from 2010-2016.

The main point is that I got the earlier events right but the events later I got wrong.

The students then have the task to predict two events of the year 2020

How well will Theresa May do in the 2020 General Election?
For this task you the students need to predict each outcome and the final score they are left with determines the overall result of the election.

Then how well will Donald Trump do against Kanye West?

For this one you need the website http://www.270towin.com/
Give each student a coin (or a chocolate coin in my case) and then give each student a state. Kanye West was Heads and Trump was Tails. Whichever person wins then they win the state. You then change the state on the board on the website above.

Both are simple interactive activities where little knowledge is needed.

Then I talked through a few details about the course and then had a Q and A session.

It went down really well!!!!!!!!
