PRIMARY FRENCH BREAKFAST WORD WALL DISPLAY
French Word Wall Le Petit Déjeuner - 18 scrumptious breakfast items!
Word walls are great not only for creating an instant introduction to beginner French vocabulary in the written form, but also for giving the learning environment a fabulous French look and feel. There are 18 items of breakfast vocab, which I don’t necessarily always have in my learning plan, but I use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. I’ve used both the indefinite and partitive article, which helps us put together sentences, such as J’aime manger des croissants, or Normalement, je prends une tasse de café. We look at cognates and near cognates, and discuss breakfast, and what we like to eat, or we’d like to try.
The items are:
- cup of coffee
- orange juice
- boiled eggs
- fried eggs
- pain au chocolat
- bread rolls
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing games. Although I tend to get my students to prepare the word wall header, I’ve included one here, as we often have both on our wall! The cards to look great in colour, but are still really nice if you prefer to print in B&W to keep costs down - I’ve includéd a set with a blue background, and one with no background - that can save on some ink too! I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to enjoy your French Breakfast word wall for years to come!
Try this French Numbers 0-21 word wall to see if the design suits your classroom - it’s the same design as le petit déjeuner
Merci beaucoup et bon appétit !
