Today, I’m offering a project about the great William Shakespeare with a variety of tasks for kids and also students from up to 12th graders. I hope you find this material useful and suitable for your students’ interests and needs.

The plays written by this popular author included tragedies, comedies, and history. On printable page 28 I present a simple task for students to classify a selection of his most famous plays into comedies or tragedies. When they finish, you can ask the students to add two more comedies and two more tragedies to each list. Or you may want to include some historical plays (for instance, Henry V, King John, and Richard III) in the original list to be classified as well.

From pages 3 to 6 you will find the lesson plans according to each level of education.

Also on pages 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 ,I have included tasks based on the summaries of the following Shakespearean tragedies: Othello, King Lear, Macbeth and Hamlet.

A sonnet is a 14-line poem in iambic pentameter, with formal rhyme scheme (from: www.readprint.com). Shakespeare wrote a collection of sonnets, first published in 1609. On printable pages 29, 30, 31 and 32, you will find some tasks based on the sonnets for students to recognize sounds and rhyming words

Using printable pages 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 , you will be able to present Shakespeare to kids. Through simple and engaging activities, they will learn the basics about the Bard’s life and his most important plays.

I have also collected a list of websites where you will find useful information on William Shakespeare’s life and times, including biographies, timelines, pictures, complete works, quotes, plot summaries, study guides, and articles about the Globe theatre and Elizabethan England.

On pages 33 , 34 ,35 and 36 you will find Famous Shakespeare’s quotes cards. Print enough copies for each group of students cut them out and put them in an envelope. Give an envelope to each group and ask the students to match the cards to find Shakespeare’s quotations.

I have also decided to offer you a Webquest Classwork about William Shakespeare. In this Webquest students have to search about:

 Shakespeare´s Times
 The Globe

Students have to answer questions for every searching and at the end of the Webquest Classwork, as a final task, they have to make a Powerpoint Presentation.
